Does Made Man offer commission or salary-based compensation?
We are strictly salary-based; we do not pay commissions.
What does the interview process involve?
The process begins with an initial conversation explaining the bare minimum of what we seek. If you meet all of those criteria, we will invite you to demonstrate your skills. On your demonstration day, you must bring your tools and take three to four clients, each requiring different hairstyles. If your work meets our standards and you're happy with the terms of our agreement, then we'll go ahead with the hiring process.
How many years of experience must a barber have to work at Made Man Barbershop?
We generally require 2 to 3 years of experience to meet our standards.
Do you have opportunities for new graduates?
Yes, we offer an apprenticeship program for new barber school graduates.
Would you like a resume along with proof of my work?
While a resume is not required, it is preferred and will help you stand out from other candidates. An Instagram page showcasing your work or an electronic portfolio would also be very beneficial.
Do you hire part-time employees?
Yes, we do offer the option to work part-time as well
Is there a particular dress code?
Our barbers must wear a dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, and a tie or suspenders.
Do you offer a flexible schedule?
With over six locations in New York City, conveniently located 10 minutes away from each other, we offer flexible schedules beyond part-time and full-time work. This flexibility extends to accommodating college students needing a more adaptable schedule.
Do you offer benefits?
Yes, we offer retirement, FSA, HSA, and health and dental plans.
I’m interested in a role but don’t meet all the qualifications. Should I still apply?**
Yes, you should apply anyway. We are open to working with people from various backgrounds and experiences.
Are there any other experiences that help with hiring?
Yes, we're always looking for candidates with additional experience beyond being a barber. Some examples include managerial roles, marketing roles, or roles in human resources management
